Individual Therapy

Each person’s experience is unique, therefore therapy rarely looks the same from person to person. Some hope to build skills to manage stress, anxiety, or depression, while others are coping with grief, working through past trauma, or wanting to improve communication and ways of navigating relationships. I work closely with each client to determine their specific needs and their goals for what they hope to get from therapy.

I draw from a variety of evidence-based therapy techniques while staying open to incorporating creative interventions depending on what feels right to the client. This may look like taking a walk along a quiet path while we talk during a session, listening to a specific song together, or something else altogether. I believe that therapy doesn’t have to look like just one thing.

Group Therapy

Group therapy can be a powerful way to feel a sense of in-it-togetherness with others, learn skills in a structured class-like format, and/or gain benefits from therapy at a much lower cost. I periodically offer group therapy focused on specific topics, including:

  • CBT (Cognitive Behavior Therapy) Skills for Anxiety or Depression

  • LGBTQ+ Issues

  • Healthy Masculinity

  • Teen Issues

If you’re interested in group therapy, let me know via the Contact button above or below and be sure to include what topic feels most relevant to you. I can let you know when the next group might be offered.

Adolescent / Youth

The adolescent years present specific challenges that are unlike any other time of life. Between school pressure, friendship and peer challenges, discovering relationships and dating, social media stress, and growing responsibilities, there is no doubt that young people have a lot to deal with. I love working with teens, preteens, and young adults as they navigate these often tumultuous years.

Gender and Sexuality

As a member of the LGBTQ+ community, I have a deep understanding both personally and from those close to me of the many ups and downs that come with discovering your identity, coming out to family, friends, and others in your life, and following a path that feels true to who you are. Whether you are exploring your gender or sexuality in your teens or later in life, grappling with your own or others’ conflicting religious beliefs, or trying to navigate which bathroom to use in public, I see you. I offer a safe space where you can talk through whatever may be holding you back from fully feeling joy in being you.

Spirituality

There are so many times in our lives where our feelings of connection with our religion, spirituality, or sense of belonging to something greater than ourselves may be called into question. For some, this is as a young adult starting out on their own, for others it might be as they face the loss of a significant relationship or the death of a loved one, or as they come to face their own aging and death. For others, it’s anger towards harm caused by the religion they were raised in.

No matter what faith tradition you come from or ascribe to, I understand the complexity of the position it may occupy in your life. I hold a deep appreciation for the many strengths and benefits that a faith tradition can have in a person’s life. I also have an open-eyed understanding of the deep harm that many people feel from specific beliefs that are part of their religion of upbringing.

If you are grappling with anything connected to your faith, religion, or spirituality, I would love to journey with you as you explore the many facets of this part of your life.
